Baby Novileigh | Hunter valley & newcastle newborn photographer
This little gem, Novileigh, slept through her entire session like a dream! She was an absolute joy to photograph. Mum Olivia and Dad Bailey have taken to parenthood so naturally—it was such a pleasure to witness their love and connection as a new family of three. These are the moments I truly love to capture.
I photograph newborns generally anywhere from 8-21 days however, newborns are ideally photographed under 2 weeks old—typically between 8 to 14 days—for several important reasons:
Sleepy and Curled Up: During the first two weeks, babies are sleepier and more likely to stay in those curled-up, womb-like poses that define classic newborn photography. This makes it easier to capture peaceful, cozy images.
Flexible and Pliable: Newborns are naturally more flexible in their early days, which allows for safe and comfortable posing that might not be possible even a few weeks later.
Fewer Skin Issues: Around the 2-week mark, babies often begin to develop baby acne, flaky skin, or colic. Photographing them earlier can help avoid these temporary conditions showing up in images.
Sleep Patterns: Very young newborns sleep more deeply and for longer stretches, making it easier to move and pose them without waking.
Capturing the Newborn Essence: That fresh, tiny, brand-new look fades quickly. Photographing babies within the first two weeks helps preserve that fleeting newborn stage in timeless images.
Scheduling a newborn session with Ali Jones Photography during this window ensures the most natural, serene, and beautiful images.
